What could you say to your employer to convince your company to invest in health? 

1. 70% of employers in the United States offer a corporate wellness program, up from 58% in 2008. Source

2. According to a study by RAND Corporation, every dollar invested in health efforts generates a return on investment of $1,50. When the investment is integrated into a program targeting chronic diseases, such as diabetes and obesity, the value estimate increases to $3,80. Source

3. Thirty-four percent of employers participate in corporate sports challenges and competitions. Source

4. A recent study showed that for every dollar spent on wellness programs, American companies saw their health insurance expenses decrease by an average of $3,27 and their absenteeism expenses by an average of $2,73. Source

5. 5% to 7.5% improvement in productivity in a company that takes a simple action in health promotion. Source

Of course, statistics are not everything. To succeed in convincing your company to invest in health, you will also need a good strategy. Often, it can be a good idea to start by identifying the person most likely to approve of the idea.
