Am I ready for a 5K? Am I ready for a 10k? Is it too late to start my training?
Is there a tool or exam to check if I am ready or not for this kind of challenge?
To answer in a few words, I think that almost 100% of the population has the capacity to participate in the Business Challenge. In fact, to successfully walk a 5 km on the day of the Défi Entreprises, you must be able to walk for 15 minutes, 12 weeks before the event. It would be a first "test" for you!
First of all, it is important to analyze your overall state of health, with a test. I suggest you complete a physical activity readiness questionnaire to make sure you don't have to see a doctor before starting. To download it, click here.
Here is a small table that will summarize the level of fitness you should have before embarking on a training program:
- 5 km walk : You must be able to walk 15 minutes non-stop;
- 5 km walk-run : You must be able to walk for 30 minutes non-stop, 3 times a week;
- 5k run : You must walk for 30 minutes without stopping, 3 times a week;
- 10 km walk : You must be able to walk 20 minutes non-stop;
- 10 km walk-run : You must be able to run for 5 minutes, non-stop, 3 times a week;
