At the Défi Group, we make it a point of honor to organize our events using a sustainable development approach. Numerous initiatives have been implemented to meet these various criteria, which has allowed us to obtain certification. Biosphere.
Here are the actions that were carried out in the organization of the Business Challenge presented by Beneva, in collaboration with Rouge.
SOCIAL DIMENSION
- Assembly of medals by a group of workers with disabilities;
- accessibility of the Challenge and unifying event for individuals of all levels (beginner to advanced), including those with reduced mobility;
- donations to the Jeunes en Tête organization thanks to the generosity of participants, businesses, their loved ones and the Défis team.
ENVIRONMENTAL DIMENSION
- Manufacture of medals from scrap metal, in Quebec;
- presence of bicycle racks, promotion of carpooling as well as public transportation in order to reduce solo car trips while promoting active transportation;
- installation of bins for composting, recycling and trash cans at the Défis de Gatineau/Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal;
- use of recyclable and compostable glasses in the four cities where the Challenge takes place;
- reduction in the number of disposable plastic water bottles distributed for the Challenges thanks to water refilling stations on the sites. Objective 2025: 0 disposable plastic bottles distributed by Défis!
- Quebec suppliers are preferred when possible;
- printing of t-shirts in Quebec;
- sorting of waste following the events in Quebec and Montreal by specialized teams;
- meat-free food offer.
ECONOMIC DIMENSION
Involvement of many valuable partners, collaborators and suppliers who have contributed to the success of our events and whom we thank once again: hosts at each of the sites, crowd animation and Challenge events, sound, care, security, marquees , lunches, photographers, timing, conferences, training, communications, sorting of residual materials, transportation, rental of equipment and materials, others.
Funding for projects of groups or teams that were present as volunteers.
Rewards offered to individual volunteers including free participation in one of the events organized by Défis.
